We encourage students, staff, and community members to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas. Your input is invaluable in helping us maintain a safe, high-quality educational experience for all students and a positive, supportive environment for our staff.

Dr. Blakey embarked on her educational career in Southern Oregon, where she taught both 4th grade and 7th and 8th grades. Driven by a deep commitment to supporting students struggling with reading, she transitioned into leadership roles such as Literacy Coach and Curriculum Coordinator. By 2007, she advanced into administration, taking on roles including Junior High Vice Principal, Elementary Principal, and Curriculum Coordinator at the district level. Her career also encompassed positions such as Director of Teaching and Learning and Interim Assistant Superintendent. In addition, Dr. Blakey served as an Executive Coach with the American Reading Company, where she provided guidance to schools across California, Texas, and Louisiana.

Dr. Blakey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University (2001), a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy (2005), and a Doctoral degree in Transformational Leadership from Concordia University (2018).

In October 2021, Dr. Blakey joined the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as Director of Humanities within the OER team in the Office of School Programs. She was promoted to Director of the Safe and Supportive Schools division in December 2022, where her team focused on supporting Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with Restorative Practices, Student Discipline (Chapter 37), Mental and Behavioral Health and Wellness, and the Safe and Supportive Schools Program. During the 88th Texas legislative session, she collaborated closely with state legislators to ensure effective educational policies.

Having always aspired to live and work overseas, Dr. Blakey seized the opportunity to become Superintendent in Kwajalein after her youngest son graduated from high school. This year, she is dedicated to listening and learning while guiding the schools through strategic planning for the next five years.

Outside her professional endeavors, Dr. Blakey enjoys watching sports (Go Seahawks!), cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
